Welcome to the new area of the website dedicated to phonics. We would be grateful if anyone would like to share any ideas, resources, games, strategies and/or planning that would support teachers in delivering effective phonic sessions for children. If you do feel that you have some useful resources to share, please contact email@example.com
A number of teachers have found the terminology used in AF8 somewhat daunting! We have put together a glossary of terms that may help; the glossary covers terminology found in the Staffordshire Skills Grids for Writing as well as in the APP guidelines. Click on the links below to access the glossary.

Strategy materials to support phonics in KS2.
Some children at Key Stage 2 may be experiencing difficulty in reading and/or writing because they have missed or misunderstood a crucial phase of systematic phonics teaching.
These materials are designed to guide teachers, and suitably trained teaching assistants (TAs), in supporting children who may have poorly developed phonic knowledge, skills and understanding.
